On May 5, 2021, Gov. Stitt signed SB 674 into law. The statute requires health plans regulated by the state to cover telemedicine services. Insurers must pay providers for telemedicine services at the same rates as those provided in-person, and insurers cannot impose higher coinsurance or copayments for those services. In addition, insurers cannot impose annual or lifetime limits to these services or require utilization review unless such reviews are required for the service if performed in-person. The law will be effective for all health plans issued, renewed or offered on or after January 1, 2022.
Employers with plans regulated by the state should be aware of this development.
