The District has announced the updated maximum weekly benefit amount payable for the city’s paid family and medical leave program (DC PFL), effective October 1, 2024.
Weekly Maximum Benefit Amount
The District’s minimum wage was increased to $17.50/hour. As a result, the maximum weekly benefit amount – which is calculated as 90% of the employee’s average weekly wage based on the statutory minimum wage – will increase to $1,153 per week from $1,118. DC PFL’s maximum weekly benefit is updated on October 1 each year.
The DC PFL website has an online benefit estimate calculator available here.
Employer Premium Amount
The employer premium rate was previously announced as 0.75% of wages with a July 1, 2024, effective date. There is no wage cap, and the premium is fully paid by employers. The DC PFL premium must be collected for all employees working in DC and submitted on a quarterly basis through the Department of Employment Services Employer Self-Service Portal.
