Recently, the Colorado Paid Family and Medical Leave (FAMLI) division director has announced that there will be no change to the rate for premiums for 2025. The 2025 rate will remain at the current rate of 0.9% of wages, with 0.45% paid by the employer and 0.45% paid by the employee, though employers may choose to pay the full 0.9% as an added benefit for their employees.
While access to FAMLI leave benefits began on January 1, 2024, for eligible Colorado employees, premium payments have been required since January 1, 2023, and have remained at the 0.9% rate since the program’s inception. FAMLI benefits include up to 12 weeks of leave (or 16 weeks in certain circumstances) for the employee's own serious health condition, to care for a family member with a serious health condition, to care for a new child during the first year after their birth, adoption or foster care placement, for a qualifying exigency leave, and safe leave (leave related to domestic violence).
